LAGC Heads to Torrey Pines for the Farmers Insurance Open.
Farmers Insurance Open
January 29 - February 1, 2026
Torrey Pines Golf Course | La Jolla, California
Purse: $9.6M
The TOUR heads to one of the most iconic municipal golf courses in America.
La Jolla is a little sea village on the North side of San Diego, and it’s home to Torrey Pines. Torrey Pines offers a rugged, cliff-side layout perched above the Pacific — this is where the game's greatest have built their legacies and where the sports’ best navigate two distinctly different tests before Sunday's showdown.
LAGC's Justin Rose and Sahith Theegala try to make their mark on a course that has hosted U.S. Opens, dramatic playoffs, and some of the most memorable shots in golf history.
Two Courses, One Champion
Unlike most TOUR events, the Farmers Insurance Open splits the field across two courses for the first two rounds:
Torrey Pines South Course (Championship Course)
Torrey Pines North Course
Players alternate between the two tracks Thursday and Friday. After the cut, the weekend rounds are played exclusively on the South Course — the longer, less forgiving course.
The South Course stretches over 7,700 yards and plays as one of the longest courses on TOUR. It's a gift to the good ball-striker, as precision off the tee and elite iron play separate great from good. Miss a fairway, and the Kikuyu rough could swallow your ball right up.
Harris English announced himself at Torrey last year with a -8 on the scorecard after 72. Quite different from Scottie Scheffler’s -27 in last week’s win.
The Farmers Insurance Open is just one of four events during the year that involve multiple courses, including last week’s American Express event and the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in just a couple weeks.
There are some remarkable holes, but the last one may just be the winner. The par 5 18th plays along the cliff's edge with the brilliant Pacific Ocean backdrop — one of the most beautiful and intimidating holes on the course. It’s seen some fantastic finishes, and we’re hoping for another come Sunday.
Justin Rose Storylines
Rose is looking to bounce back after missing the cut at last week's American Express event.
Rose has a strong history at Torrey Pines, finishing T-18 in 2023 and T-6 in 2022. He'll need his ball-striking to be sharp this week — the South Course rewards both distance and precision.
Look for Rose to play his way into the weekend and be in contention come Sunday.
Sahith Theegala Storylines
Theegala is riding momentum after a T-8 finish at The American Express. Theegala admitted that 2025 wasn’t the season he hoped for, but his early-season form suggests he’ll be in contention on a lot of weekends this year.
Sahith was squarely in striking distance heading into last year’s final round of the Farmers Insurance Open, but some final-round mishaps have him seeking revenge in San Diego this year.
Theegala is putting the pieces together as we all believed he could, and this feels like it could be a big week for the Southern California native.
He currently sits at 16th in the FedExCup rankings.
What to Watch
Brooks Koepka returns to the PGA TOUR, joining Ludvig Åberg (The Bay Golf Club) and former Farmers Insurance Open winner Max Homa (Jupiter Links Golf Club) in an ESPN featured group.
A lot of eyes will be on Brooks, but keep an eye on Rose and Theegala as they look for their own iconic moments this week.
Check out the action, streaming on Golf Channel, CBS, and ESPN+ from Thursday-Sunday.
