The Ballfrogs failed to make the playoffs in the inaugural season. Boston showed plenty of potential but came up short in several close matches, never able to find a consistent rhythm amid a rapid-fire schedule.
Los Angeles got off to a great start and never let up, earning the No. 1 seed with a 4-0-1 record before a Semifinals upset loss to New York Golf Club. Friday marks a chance to get back atop the leaderboard for a team that many have pegged as the favorites in 2026.
Rory McIlroy is in the lineup and ready to get this bounce-back campaign started Friday, joined by Boston teammates Keegan Bradley and alternate Michael Thorbjornsen. The 24-year-old Stanford product makes his TGL presented by SoFi debut after logging five top-10 finishes and a runner-up at the Coralas Puntacana Championship last season on the PGA TOUR.
Los Angeles sends a trio of Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa and Sahith Theegala for the opener.
LAGC scored a 6-2 win over Boston last season and dominated in Triples, taking a 5-0 lead through nine holes en route to a stress-free victory. The Ballfrogs didn’t have many opportunities to change the momentum as Los Angeles began the match with the Hammer and never put it in play after taking the early lead. The rules have since changed – both teams begin with three Hammers to use at any point in the match, something that could certainly help Boston get off to a better start in Season 2.
These teams have a high bar to reach after a back-and-forth opener, with Atlanta Drive GC’s Billy Horschel making eagle at the last hole to give the defending champs a 6-4 win over New York Golf Club Sunday in a Finals rematch.
Both Boston and Los Angeles are hoping to get on their level in 2026. The Ballfrogs welcome the fresh start and a chance to build a winning identity, while Los Angeles is looking to continue its run of success after going unbeaten in the regular season a year ago.
Sunday proved once again that every shot matters in SoFi Center, with the match coming down to the final putt. Let’s see what Boston and Los Angeles have in store for an encore.
