Hang Low
Hang Low
Par 4 | 488 yds
Set among the barrancas of Southern California, Hang Low is the par 4 sister hole to the much longer par 5 Hang Loose. On this par 4, teams are presented with two options off the tee. Players can “hang low” and hit less than driver to a low fairway that’s an awkward angle, narrow, and 15 feet downhill.
The longest players may try to cut the corner over the barranca to find the shortest approach, but any driver hit to the right will leave players nearly the same yardage for their second shot compared to hitting from the low fairway.

Hole Designer: Nicklaus Design
Nicklaus Design senior design associate Chad Goetz talks us through his process on Hang Low, the par 4 sister to Hang Loose:
Chad says: "This hole is set in the canyon regions of southern California. It is a par 4, and off the tee players will need to decide which way to navigate the upper bunker on the fairway.
"Playing out safe to the right leaves a much longer shot into the green. Playing over to the left of it will leave just a wedge.
"Just like Hang Loose, in either case they will still have to navigate and shape shots around the sycamore trees to reach the green safely."
