Oh Chute
Oh Chute
Par 3 | 271 Yards
This claustrophobic par 3 is designed to be a test of shot-shaping ability and control. From the back tee, it is the longest par 3 in TGL tipping out at 271 yards to the center of the green. Named for the “chute” players will be hitting through, the tee shot seems to call for a left-to-right shape, but the imposing tree line may give teams pause for thought.
Any misjudgment and the trees could snag the ball and put players in trouble. There is ample space to bail out short and left for more conversative play, but anything right will be tough to keep out of the penalty area.
Hole Strategy
Hole Designer: Beau Welling Design
Beau Welling shares the inspiration behind this tricky par 3 and how teams might shape their shots:
Beau says: "I think some players may say 'Oh Chute' after they hit their tee ball! Where the name comes from is that the tee is played through a narrow corridor of trees over a lake to a green set on a peninsula.
"I think where the pin is located will really dictate strategy and how players shape their shots. If the pin is in the back left on the upper tier, I think to get close they are almost going to have to hit a right-to-left shot. Conversely, if the pin is on the right then I think a more left-to-right tee shot will be best and they'll be able to use the slope to feed the ball down to try to get close.
"It's one of those holes someone is going to get super rewarded with a really good shot. But because it's so long, there's lots of opportunity for players to scramble to stay in the hole."
