One of the most consistently impressive players on the PGA TOUR, Justin Rose will be one of two Olympic gold medalists to tee it up for TGL in early 2025.
Rose has been at the top of the golf game for 25 years, ever since first bursting onto the scene as an amateur with a fourth-place finish at the 1998 Open Championship. Plenty of accolades have followed, including 11 PGA TOUR wins and the 2013 U.S. Open (plus that gold medal in Rio de Janeiro at the 2016 Olympics).
A veteran of five European Ryder Cup teams, Rose’s all-round game and team format experience should make him a valuable commodity for one of the six TGL teams.
“TGL’s approach of merging technology and golf is the innovative thinking that I believe will help the sport evolve and continue to appeal to a broader base of fans. And my team experiences in the Ryder Cup have always been highlights of my career, so layering in the team format with TGL was a big motivator for me getting involved,” said Rose.
Rose is currently one of five international stars signed up to play TGL this coming season, with 12 players so far confirmed. There will be 18 players total – six teams of three golfers – with Rose joined by fellow Englishman and fellow U.S. champion Matt Fitzpatrick. Also among the TGL international contingent for the first season: Australia’s Adam Scott, and TGL co-founder Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland.
The current roster of TGL players is rounded out by Tiger Woods, Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler, Billy Horschel, Collin Morikawa, Xander Schauffele and Max Homa. Between the 12 players, there’s 190 PGA TOUR wins, 28 majors and a combined 886 weeks at No. 1 (OWGR).
But the only TGL player other than Rose who can claim the title of Olympic gold medalist? That would be Schauffele, who topped the field to take gold in the men’s individual event in Tokyo, four years after Rose struck gold in Brazil.
