New Hammer Rules

There's been some changes. In TGL, every hole is worth one point unless the Hammer is played. That much remains true.

And it's also the case that the team with the most points at the end of the match wins.

But starting Monday, each team will begin the match with three Hammers. Playing the Hammer raises the stakes of a hole by one point when played and accepted. Teams can only throw the Hammer once on a given hole but are otherwise free to use them at any point in the match to up the ante.

The maximum number of points on offer per hole is now 3 (should each team throw a Hammer that is accepted by their opponent). The new rules mean each team will always get the opportunity to throw the Hammer during a match.

3 Matches in 1 Day

Patrick Cantlay, Justin Thomas and Billy Horschel will represent Atlanta in the first match, while Los Angeles counters with Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood and Sahith Theegala.

Atlanta cruised to a 4-0 victory over New York Golf Club in its first match of the season and faces a tough test Monday in the opener against LAGC. Los Angeles has looked very comfortable at SoFi Center, taking over first place in the SoFi Cup Standings.

Los Angeles picked up wins over Jupiter and Boston by a combined score of 18-3, but Atlanta can join atop the standings with a victory.

New Faces at SoFi Center

Lucas Glover is set to make his debut for Atlanta in the second match of the day, swapping in for Horschel to join Cantlay and Thomas. They’ll take on another unbeaten opponent in The Bay, which scored a 9-2 win over New York thanks in part to a stellar showing from Ludvig Åberg in Week 1. Min Woo Lee will be making his TGL debut for The Bay in the second match of the day.

The Bay also goes back-to-back and returns for a nightcap against Boston Common Golf, with the broadcast switching to ESPN2 for the 7 p.m. matchup.

Rory McIlroy and Keegan Bradley are back for Boston, with Hideki Matsuyama joining the lineup for the first time this season. The 32-year-old Japanese superstar and 2021 Masters champion is looking to help Boston score its first win of the season. Shane Lowry swaps in for Min Woo for The Bay.

This is the third match of the season for the Ballfrogs, who currently have one point in the SoFi Cup Standings after an Overtime loss to Jupiter and a 6-2 loss to Los Angeles.

All players will be mic’d up for the duration of the matches in what should be a vibrant slate of team golf live from SoFi Center.
