Flex

Set on an active volcano, Flex is named for its resemblance to someone “flexing” their muscles. Players have three options off the tee. Only the longest of players can attempt the straight option as it requires a 325-yard carry to reach the fairway.

The second most aggressive line is to the right, which requires a 285-yard carry to a fairway that will kick the ball forward and to the left if they catch the speed slot correctly. Finally, the easiest tee shot is to the left where the fairway is generous but will leave players with the longest second shot in.

Agustín Pizá talks through the design of Flex, a hole designed in the middle of a volcano:

Agustín says: "This is going to be a great option for match play golf. You can take on the center stage on Flex, right there smack down the middle if you can carry 330 yards, which is obviously made for the big boys.

"You will be rewarded with a potential up-and-down from that section. A little bit more of a conservative play is to take on the right or the left depending on your line of play. There is a row of bunkering on the right hand side and on the left hand side on the approach shot.

"The more you open your shot, the tougher your second.

"A hole like this is part of the treat that we have with TGL presented by SoFi. The whole point of creating these majestic holes is to create beautiful strategic holes in a beautiful setting that otherwise you would never have an opportunity to play."
