Quick Draw
Quick Draw
Par 5 | 720/538 Yards
This desert-style par 5 measuring 720/538 yards might be the ultimate risk-reward hole in TGL. Teams have a choice off the tee, play it safe to a generous fairway on the left or cut the angle and go big to a dramatic plateau rising from the canyon floor.
The more aggressive approach brings plenty of risk, but a successful shot puts teams in prime position to attack the green in two.
Hole Strategy
Hole Designer: Beau Welling Design
Beau Welling Design was the hole design group behind this dramatic desert hole. Beau talks us through his thought process on the design and discusses how our teams may approach it:
Beau says: “Quick Draw is a really special and really unique hole, I’ve never seen anything like it in the real world but in the TGL world this kind of thing is possible.
“The hole tees off on the canyon’s edge and you play across to a continuous fairway that runs all the way around the rim of the canyon. That’s the safe, conservative play. A 300 yard drive gets you well on to the fairway and from there you are forced to lay up as the hole plays almost 750 yards if you play around the rim of the canyon.
“But there’s a substantially more aggressive line. You can play across the canyon to a plateau that is emerging out of the bottom of the canyon. That carries about 305 yards. From there, the green can be reachable in two even though the green is not particularly accessible the way it is designed from that angle.
“It is going to be very interesting to see how players make decisions on Quick Draw. Do you play left and toke on less risk? Or if the conditions of the match present themselves, will it make sense to take on a lot of risk and try to reach this green in two?”
