Rory McIlroy and the Ballfrogs drew plenty of fan support and commanded attention throughout their inaugural campaign in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Now with the offseason in the rearview mirror, Boston Common Golf is gearing up to make a serious run in the SoFi Cup Standings.
The fast-paced team golf action gets back underway this month, with New York Golf Club taking on Atlanta Drive GC at 3 p.m. ET on Sunday, Dec. 28 at SoFi Center in the season-opening match. And Ballfrogs fans won’t have to wait long before Boston Common Golf returns to TGL in primetime.

BOSTON COMMON GOLF SCHEDULE
Boston gets right down to business after ringing in the new year, with its 2026 season beginning at 7 p.m. ET on Jan. 2. The Ballfrogs are matched up against Los Angeles Golf Club on ESPN2. This one will put the Ballfrogs to the test immediately against an LA squad that finished the regular season as the No. 1 seed in the SoFi Cup Standings.
Therein lies one of Boston’s biggest challenges entering 2026 – the Ballfrogs won’t have much room for error in the early going as they face the top three teams from last season in their first three matches at SoFi Center.
Boston is back for its second match at 7 p.m. ET on Jan. 26 to take on The Bay Golf Club. The Bay posted a 4-1 record last season, earning the No. 2 seed before falling to Atlanta Drive GC in the Semifinals.
The Ballfrogs will get a shot at the defending champions with a 5 p.m. ET matchup against Atlanta on Feb. 23. That’s the opener for one of two TGL doubleheaders on the docket in 2026 – Los Angeles will face Atlanta in the second match at 9 p.m. ET.
It’ll be a quick turnaround with another doubleheader on deck the following night, as Boston takes on New York Golf Club at 9 p.m. ET Feb. 24 in the second match of the evening.
Boston’s regular season slate concludes with a 9 p.m. ET tilt against Jupiter Links Golf Club on March 1. This was one of the most anticipated matchups all of last season, pitting McIlroy against Tiger Woods at SoFi Center. What followed was one of the most competitive, exciting matches all of last season, with Boston falling in a 4-3 Overtime loss.
BOSTON COMMON GOLF ROSTER
While every TGL team includes a host of accolades and major championships, Boston can now say it has something only shared by Jupiter – a career Grand Slam winner on the roster.
McIlroy earned said distinction with an epic 2025 Masters victory, picking off his final leg of the Grand Slam in a playoff win over Los Angeles’ Justin Rose. That was one of three individual wins for McIlroy on the year, with additional victories at Pebble Beach and the Players Championship.
McIlroy finished fifth in average driving distance in TGL and had one of the longest drives in the league, sending it 342 yards at a fan favorite hole, the Par-5 The Spear.
Keegan Bradley, who emerged, unsurprisingly, as one of the biggest competitors in TGL, had a busy offseason. The New England native manned the U.S. Ryder Cup team as captain at Bethpage Black. He also logged six top-10 finishes on the PGA TOUR and won the Travelers Championship in June, enjoying one of the best seasons of his career. He was great in Singles in TGL Season 1, winning five points over the regular season (T2, behind only Atlanta Drive's Billy Horschel).
Adam Scott and Hideki Matsuyama are also back in the fold for the Ballfrogs and looking to get it going at SoFi Center. Scott made one of the longest putts of the 2025 season, draining a 31-footer in Boston’s first match of the year.
Matsuyama was a fairway finder and finished T3 in TGL in driving accuracy, hitting the fairway at an 83.33% clip.
With this collection of major champions and loads of experience, Boston has every reason to believe it can take a big step forward in 2026.
SEASON 1 RECAP
The marquee matchup with Jupiter to open the year began what would be a similar tale for Boston all season long. The Ballfrogs were in every match, but a few missed opportunities and bad bounces led the team to finish bottom of the SoFi Cup Standings.
After the Overtime loss to Jupiter, the Ballfrogs fell behind 3-0 after the first three holes against Los Angeles. They battled back for a respectable 6-2 loss in a match that looked like it might get out of hand.
The Ballfrogs had one of their best efforts of the season in the third match against The Bay and came up just short once again. Bradley put on a show, chipping in for eagle at the 10th to earn his first of two Singles points on the night – Bradley also tied the match, 4-4, with a win and point over Shane Lowry at the 13th. The Bay’s Wyndham Clark would ultimately eagle the 15th and final hole to give his team a dramatic 5-4 victory.
Boston’s season concluded with back-to-back losses to Finals participants Atlanta and New York.
