Following a busy Presidents Day tripleheader, New York Golf Club and Jupiter Links Golf Club will play the third match for each team at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday on ESPN.
It’s a big match for both with the playoffs rapidly approaching and only the top four teams making the postseason.
Neither team is part of the Presidents Day tripleheader, which means both will be coming in fairly fresh with the PGA TOUR's west coast swing having ended and most top players headed toward Florida for the Florida swing.
Let’s take a closer look at this matchup, what’s at stake for both teams and three things to watch for on Tuesday evening. And as a reminder, we have new Hammer rules in play now.

New York Golf Club vs. Jupiter Links Golf Club
Must win for NYGC
In the same way that Boston Common Golf need a victory on Monday evening against The Bay Golf Club, New York Golf Club has to have something positive happen for them or their hopes of making the first TGL playoffs are going to be all-but over.
They are the only team without a point yet – remember you get two points for a win of any kind, one point for an overtime loss and zero points for a regulation loss. Four of the six teams make the playoffs, and if NYGC loses this match, it could be over for them.
Tom Kim is the juice
I knew Kim would be animated in his first performance, an overtime victory against Boston Common Golf, but I didn’t know he would be the superstar he turned out to be. Even with Tiger Woods playing this week, JLGC will likely look to Kim to be its spiritual and emotional ballast, and he absolutely wants (and can handle!) that role.
Greens in regulation important
Jupiter Links Golf Club does not have anyone who has hit more than 50% of greens in regulation so far. That’s probably not going to get it done, even against a NYGC team that has struggled a bit. Kim is certainly magic with his putter, but as the season goes on it gets more and more difficult to buoy yourself with your short game. This is likely where the match will be won (or lost).

Porter’s Picks
I’m actually going with NYGC here. Some of JLGC’s players have struggled off and on throughout the year, both on the PGA TOUR and in TGL, and NYGC was much better in a 4-0 loss to the Atlanta Drive last time out than they were in that opening 9-2 loss to The Bay Golf Club. It took 65 (!!) feet of putts made from Atlanta Drive to beat NYGC, and I’m banking on the fact that JLGC is not going to do that.
Matchup 1: Tiger Woods vs. Cameron Young – This is a pretty intriguing matchup. After an up-and-down first match, Tiger was really solid in his second outing. I think this matchup could (and will) sway the entire match.
Matchup 2: Kevin Kisner vs. Rickie Fowler – Kisner’s lack of length could be problematic against Fowler here. Fowler ranks 8th in the league, averaging 318 yards off the tee, while Kisner checks at 287 yards. That’s significant enough to make a real difference in this specific matchup.
Matchup 3: Tom Kim vs. Matt Fitzpatrick – Kim is incredible and electric, but it will be too little, too late for the JLGC star. Even though I think he will beat Fitzpatrick, I don’t think it will matter because NYGC will already have the match wrapped up.
