One of New York or Atlanta will lift the SoFi Cup for the first time on Tuesday night.
For the first time in the history of TGL presented by SoFi, we'll have a champion. The Finals Series gets underway on Monday night on ESPN2 at 9 p.m. ET with the opener in a best-of-three series between New York Golf Club and Atlanta Drive GC.
The winner of that first match will have the opportunity to wrap it up when they return to SoFi Center for Match 2 on Tuesday on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET. If necessary, a deciding match will take place immediately after to crown a champion.
The winners will be the first to ever lift the SoFi Cup, an all-metal trophy that stands 25-inches tall and weighs 16 pounds. For comparison, the Super Bowl trophy is around 22-inches tall and weighs around 7 pounds, while the Stanley Cup trophy is around 35-inches tall and weighs approximately 34 pounds.
Each part of the custom-manufactured SoFi Cup was hand-assembled and hand-finished. The trophy features a sterling silver logo with a platinum finish, as well as color-changing LED lights, illuminating in SoFi blue or one of the six team colors. Upon winning the Finals Series, the winning team’s color will be represented on the trophy.
New York Golf Club has a roster made up of Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler, Cameron Young and Matt Fitzpatrick. Their opponents in the Finals, Atlanta Drive, can call on Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay, Billy Horschel and Lucas Glover.
As well as the SoFi Cup, the winning team takes home $9million, while the runners-up earn $4.5million.
