But before doing so, it’s important to know how to engage in a sustainable manner.
Betting on TGL golf responsibly and smartly
TGL is a one-of-a-kind league that provides for many unique betting opportunities. Fans can wager on outcomes like longest drive, closest to the pin, match winners and the eventual SoFi Cup champion. But no matter the bet type you choose for your TGL wagers this season, the basics of responsible gaming still apply. Whether you’re new to TGL betting or already placed some bets during Season 1, it’s always a good strategy to take it slowly with a measured approach. Season 2 is three months long – from December 28, 2025 until March 24, 2026 – so having a plan and budget for the whole thing is recommended.

Bankroll Management is key. Choose a TGL betting budget, which is also known as a “bankroll.” This needs to be an amount that you can afford to lose entirely without any impact on your financial health, such as your ability to pay bills or afford basic expenses. If placing multiple bets, ask yourself, “in case all of these picks are wrong, what will my total losses look like?” It’s dangerous to assume that at minimum some of your bets will win, so calculating your total risk amount is critical. Always make sure that your total exposure figure is an amount that you’re comfortable losing completely.
See it as entertainment, not potential profit. Sports betting in general should be viewed as a way to add some fun rooting interests that increase your engagement with an event. Odds are naturally skewed in the sportsbooks’ favor, so it’s statistically likely that you will not turn a profit over the long term. If you approach betting with that expectation, winning can be seen as a bonus if your bets hit.
Set limits. Online sportsbooks nowadays offer features that allow users to set limits, a critical tool that all bettors should use to ensure that they keep their gambling in check. Users can set limits on deposit amounts, losses, individual wagers and even time spent betting each day. Implementing these types of limits to act as an extra set of guardrails is highly recommended.
Learn the format and sportsbook rules. TGL matches have an exciting format and unique features such as a shot clock and the “Hammer.” Each match consists of nine holes of Triples, followed by six holes of Singles. Having a strong understanding of these details is important to placing a fully informed bet. For example, during the alternate-shot Triples portion, knowing which player will be teeing off on a specific hole may impact your pick.

In addition, sportsbooks have specific rules for grading bets, and they can vary from one app to another. Be sure to check your preferred sportsbook’s “house rules” for golf in general or TGL specifically, so there aren’t any surprises when your wagers are graded.
Never “chase” losses. Chasing losses involves betting more to try to win back what was lost previously. But feeling “due” for a win or thinking that you “can’t possibly lose again” is incredibly dangerous. Losses can compound quickly and result in significant negative financial impacts. In fact, Birches Health counselors have found loss-chasing to be the most common indicator of a gambling problem in our clients. Therefore, it is critical to accept losses as the cost of entertainment and move on to another (non-betting) activity.
Problem Gambling Treatment and Resources
Part of being a responsible bettor is also knowing where to turn if you or someone you know may be struggling with a gambling problem. Gambling addiction, known in the clinical world as “Gambling Disorder,” can affect anyone and have devastating impacts.
Fortunately, today there are now specialized care programs for problem gambling, including those offered by Birches Health. With a nationwide team of specially trained counselors, Birches provides confidential online treatment to help individuals struggling with gambling addiction on their path to recovery.
