Fallen Pine
Fallen Pine
Par 3 | 240 Yards
This par 3 surrounded by pine trees is extremely versatile with multiple tee box locations.
The hole can play anywhere from 130 yards in length to 240 yards, requiring different clubs and shot shapes depending on the hole location and wind.
Tee shots will travel across a marsh area to a green that sticks out from a peninsula surrounded by penalty areas on the opposite side.
Hole Strategy
Hole designer: Nicklaus Design
Nicklaus Design senior design associate Chad Goetz talks through his design process on Fallen Pine and discusses how the teams may approach it:
Chad says: "Set in the pine barrens region of New Jersey, the idea behind this hole was to create something very flexible to be played from many different angles and distances.
"The hole can top out at over 240 yards, where we ask players to control their ball with a long shot over the water to the correct section of the small green. If the hole location is set up in the back left of the green, players will be able to use a shelf to guide the ball down toward the hole.
"But the hole can also play as short as 140 yards, which forces teams to contend with the most dangerous angle over the front bunker with the water lurking to the left."
