Hang Loose
Hang Loose
Par 5 | 609 yds
Two fairways are split by a barranca on this par 5 that asks teams to consider their risk tolerance. The aggressive approach requires a precise tee shot to the narrow-left fairway, from which the green is reachable in two if players can pull off a shaped approach shot around the sycamore trees.
Those who take the right fairway likely will have to settle for three shots into the green and then the decision becomes how to find the best angle of approach from the second landing area.

Hole Designer: Nicklaus Design
Nicklaus Design senior design associate Chad Goetz talks us through his design process on Hang Loose:
Chad says: "The par 5 plays over 600 yards and there's a barranca that splits fairways down the hole.
"Players that play safely to the right will most likely not be able to reach the green in two shots. They'll lay up past the second fairway bunker and then have a shot that will have to be routed between some strategically placed sycamore trees to the green.
"A sliver of fairway is to the left of the barranca and aggressive players can play over there and face a much shorter second shot to the green, making it reachable. But they will have to shape a shot around the sycamore trees in between the landing areas."
