Set In Stone
Set In Stone
Par 3 | 210 yds
Located right next to Alpine, this par 3 plays with approach angles to create a challenge for teams off the tee into a green perched on the edge of a ravine. With multiple tee box locations, Set In Stone is designed to require players to think through their trajectory on shots over the ravine that runs through the middle, increasing in difficulty on the shorter tee shots.
This par 3 is literally “set in stone”, with the only playable surface being a 41-yard-wide peninsula that juts out from the mountainside, which replicates the exact same-sized turntable in the GreenZone at SoFi Center. With penalty areas surrounding the green, players will need pinpoint accuracy when attacking the pin with danger lurking everywhere.
Hole Strategy
Hole Designer: Nicklaus Design
Nicklaus Design senior design associate Chad Goetz talks us through the design process on Set In Stone and discusses how our teams may approach it:
Chad says: "This par 3 is set in a mountain area. It can range anywhere from 140-200 yards and it features a shot over a canyon to a green that really favors a left to right shot to work around the front right bunker.
"When the hole plays back over 200 yards it requires a very percise shot to find this small grain in the GreenZone."
