Stinger

Stinger

Par 4 | 414 Yards

One of Tiger Woods' signature shots, the “Stinger”, takes center stage on this Par 4. A natural rock formation extends from the left out in front of the tee box, encouraging players to hit a stinger no higher than 50 feet.

Those brave and skillful enough to take it on successfully will be rewarded with a boost of extra roll beyond 260 yards into Position A on this double dogleg hole. There is an alternative option though, which is a short mid-to-high draw off the tee to skirt to the right of the rock formation. But where’s the fun in that?

Hole Strategy

Hole designer: Pizá Golf

Agustín Pizá talks through the design of Stinger and discusses how the teams may approach it:

Agustín says: "This hole is an ode to Tiger Woods and his signature shot, the stinger. Players will have the opportunity to hit that shot on this hole, including Tiger himself when he steps up for Jupiter Links.

"The hole plays around 400 yards. It is a double dogleg short par 4 that we have designed two ways to play.

"The first way is to take on that stinger, which will play at an apex of around 45 ft within the rock feature in front of the tee box. If you that stinger well, your ball should hit the speed slot and trickle to Position A, about 160 yards away from the GreenZone.

"If you don’t have the stinger shot in your bag, you can play a baby draw on the right. But you need to be very precise because the hole is doglegging and it’s going away from your shot. Players will also have to contend with water all the way on your right so that's a risk, too."
