Kyle Porter previews Monday's doubleheader as teams make a final push for the playoffs.

The final week of regular season play for TGL presented by SoFi is already here, and there are high stakes in all three matchups (two on Monday, one on Tuesday) as each team makes a last push.

The matches get going early on Monday as Los Angeles Golf Club and The Bay Golf Club – two teams at the top of the SoFi Cup Standings – play for the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, which begin March 17. Following that matchup at 3 p.m. on ESPN2, Boston Common Golf and New York Golf Club play at 7 p.m. on ESPN2 for what could be the fourth and final playoff spot (more on that below).

The Bay Golf Club vs. LAGC

No. 1 seed

Neither of these teams have lost in regulation as they bring a combined 7-0-1 record into the match and have been pretty clearly the two best teams in the league. The winner gets the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, which is meaningful in this case because the loser will likely play the Atlanta Drive in the Semifinals, and the Drive have only lost one match to date.

COURSE PREVIEW: Check Out the Holes for Monday

Him Woo Lee

Min Woo Lee has been TBGC’s answer – not that they needed one – to Tom Kim of Jupiter Links, Justin Thomas of Atlanta Drive and Sahith Theegala of LAGC. A charismatic menace who seems to hit ridiculous shots when they’re needed most.

And though TBGC will be without Ludvig Åberg for the second consecutive week, the squad they’re bringing is part of a team that thus far has led the league in driving accuracy, greens in regulation, driving distance and scrambling. Lee has been part of that, too, as he leads all of TGL in average distance off the tee and average ball speed (at 192 MPH).

Porter’s Picks

I love LAGC, and think this could be a SoFi Cup Finals preview depending on how things play out, but TBGC seems to have cracked the code at SoFi Center. Shane Lowry, Wyndham Clark and Lee have been part of an absolutely dominant team throughout the season and have all contributed in unique ways.

Lee with his driving and chipping, Clark with his 5-0-3 Singles record and Lowry by being the glue that holds it all together. I think they touch off the perfect season and take a 5-0-0 record into the playoffs.

As for individual matchups, this is how I see them playing out.

Tommy Fleetwood vs. Min Woo Lee: Not only has Lee been the longest driver in TGL this year, he’s also the only player with multiple chip-ins. The magic continues on Monday.

Collin Morikawa vs. Shane Lowry: I love Lowry and his role on this team, but Morikawa is a monster, especially in TGL. In six Singles holes, he’s 3-0-3.

Sahith Theegala vs. Wyndham Clark: What a duo here. Theegala has been electric, as he always is, but Clark has probably been the TGL MVP thus far. He leads the league in Triples points won, Triples holes won, Singles holes won and total points accumulated.

Boston Common Golf vs. New York Golf Club

Playoff scenarios

Here is where the playoff scenarios get interesting. NYGC currently sits in fourth place, and Boston Common Golf is in last.

New York Golf Club has three possible scenarios which could land them in the playoffs.

  • Win vs. Boston Common Golf. This is the most straightforward scenario.
  • –OR– Overtime loss against Boston Common Golf and Atlanta Drive win over Jupiter Links Golf Club. This one is somewhat straightforward.
  • –OR– A loss against Boston Common Golf and Atlanta Drive win over JLGC but NYGC finishes the season with more holes won than Boston Common Golf or JLGC.

Right now, NYGC has 15 holes won, Boston Common Golf has 11 and JLGC has just nine. So NYGC is in a good spot since holes won is the playoff tiebreaker. As long as JLGC doesn’t beat Atlanta Drive and leapfrog NYGC in points then NYGC should probably end with more holes won than either JLGC or Boston Common Golf.

Here are Boston Common Golf’s scenarios.

  • Win vs. NYGC and JLGC loses in regulation to Atlanta Drive and Boston Common Golf ends with more holes won than NYGC.
  • Win vs. NYGC and JLGC loses in overtime to Atlanta Drive and Boston Common Golf ends with more holes won than NYGC and JLGC.

This is all a bit problematic for Boston Common Golf because it means that Atlanta Drive will have to beat Jupiter Links Golf Club and the Ballfrogs will have to win five more holes than NYGC in their Monday matchup.

HOW TO WATCH: TV & Streaming Info for Monday's Doubleheader

Xander returns

After more than a month off, Xander Schauffele returns from a rib injury that sidelined him for not only most of the TGL season, but also a lot of the PGA TOUR season so far.

A big question – on both fronts – is how he will feel in his return and whether he can continue playing at the level he was at in 2024. We will catch a glimpse of that on Monday against Boston Common Golf in what will be just his second appearance in SoFi Center this season.

Porter’s Picks

I just refuse to give up on the Ballfrogs. They were my pick to make the Finals Series (along with TBGC) before the season started, and I’m sticking with it (against all odds!).

They get a bit of an advantage in that Schauffele returns this week to NYGC with injury questions, but they also lose Hideki Matsuyama, who will be replaced by Adam Scott in the lineup. Regardless, they will have to be better in Triples, where they have won just four holes so far this season (NYGC has won 11).

As for individual matchups, this is how I see them playing out.

Rory McIlroy vs. Cameron Young: Young has been solid this season, but McIlroy just has not made any putts this year. He’s 18th in putts made from 4-10 feet. That can’t continue, right?!

Keegan Bradley vs. Rickie Fowler: Bradley is tied for first in the league in greens in regulation hit. In fact, he hasn’t missed a green in regulation. I’m going with him.

Adam Scott vs. Xander Schauffele: Schauffele is the better player right now, but I’m betting that his time off will bring about some rust that Scott can take advantage of.
