It’s almost playoff time at SoFi Center.

There’s unfinished business for Jupiter Links Golf Club and Atlanta Drive GC heading into the regular season finale Tuesday in TGL presented by SoFi.

Both teams enter the week with plenty to play for – Atlanta is jockeying for position in the SoFi Cup Standings after locking up a postseason spot last week, while Jupiter is hoping to claim the fourth and final spot with a few bounces going their way.

The match tees off at 7 p.m. on ESPN and includes a first-timer at SoFi Center, where 21-year-old Nick Dunlap joins Atlanta Drive on a one-match contract. The 2023 U.S. Amateur champion and 2024 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year should be ready to meet the moment with Atlanta looking to improve its standing entering the Semifinals March 17-18.

Playoff Picture

Atlanta is guaranteed a No. 3 seed or better entering the final week. The team has a chance to jump up to the No. 2 seed with a win, depending on the result from Monday’s Los Angeles Golf Club-The Bay Golf Club Club matchup.

Jumping up to the No. 2 seed would improve Atlanta’s chances as they would hold the honor in their Semifinal matchup as the higher-seeded team and could pick their player first during lineup selection.

Jupiter is currently No. 5 in the SoFi Cup Standings and needs Boston Common Golf to beat New York in Monday’s doubleheader. A win over Atlanta would then give Jupiter a playoff spot with the No. 4 seed. They could also get into a tiebreaker (total holes won on the season) with an Overtime loss to Atlanta, along with a Boston victory.

Lineups

Jupiter Links Golf Club: Tom Kim, Tiger Woods, Max Homa

Atlanta Drive GC: Billy Horschel, Lucas Glover, Nick Dunlap

Playing Order Reveal

Here’s the order in which players will tee off for their teams:

3 Things to Know

Roll Tide: With former Alabama star Justin Thomas out of the lineup, Atlanta calls on another Crimson Tide product in Dunlap. The rising star became the first amateur to win a Tour event since 1991 at the American Express last season and followed it up with another victory at the Barracuda Championship. We’ll see how he handles the moment with Tiger Woods on the opposite team in a packed house at SoFi Center.

Total Package: Kim has been doing it all for Jupiter and clearly relishes the environment in TGL, giving it to opposing fans and holding nothing back. The 22-year-old leads the league in Strokes Gained Total (+7.79) and will do whatever he can to help Jupiter in the final playoff push.

Hammer Happy: We don’t expect either team to leave any Hammers in their back pocket. Rule changes giving teams three Hammers to use at any point in the match have provided tons of excitement down the stretch and closer matches as a result. Jupiter leads the league with 12 Hammers thrown and Atlanta is second with nine, so we’ll definitely see some big swings Monday.

Singles Matchups

Tom Kim vs. Billy Horschel: Kim has the better overall stats on paper, but Horschel leads the league with six total points won in Singles while Kim has won two. These two have shown tons of competitive fire all season and go toe-to-toe at the par-5 Serpent and par-4 The Claw.

Tiger Woods vs. Lucas Glover: It’s been nearly 20 years since these two shared a U.S. team room at the 2007 Presidents Cup. Now they’re matched up in a make-or-break match and start at No. 11, The Plank, a short par 4 which should be a great irons test. They finish at 14, On the Rocks, in what will likely be a pressure-packed wedge for both at the short par 3.

Max Homa vs. Nick Dunlap: Dunlap gets his first Singles matchup started at No. 12, Fallen Pine, a 194-yard par 3. Homa may have a slight edge as he was 24th on Tour last season in approach shots from 175-200 yards, while Dunlap was 106th. They finish at the par-5 Pick Yer Plunder, where Dunlap might be in better position with a distance advantage.

The Course

There’s not much room for error around this layout, with 18 combined shots hit into the penalty area on these holes so far this season. That includes six at Pick Yer Plunder, making for a nervy final hole in Singles.

The eighth, Hatchet, has proved the most difficult green to hit with players doing so just 16.6% of the time so far this season.

HOLE SPOTLIGHT

No. 14: On the Rocks, Par 3, 134 yards

The penultimate hole has been used in every match and provided a setting for some of the biggest highlights of the season. Sahith Theegala made a 28-foot birdie putt here to spark a ridiculous comeback win over New York last Monday, while Patrick Cantlay stuck it inside two feet with the match against Los Angeles hanging in the balance earlier this year.

This should serve as a thrilling Singles hole with Woods and Glover facing off late with a playoff spot potentially hanging in the balance.
