Tiger Woods needs no introduction. But we’ll give him one anyway.
His 82 PGA TOUR wins are tied for first all time. His 15 majors are second only to Jack Nicklaus. He’s a legend on and off the course as one of the most successful professional athletes ever.
As co-founder of TMRW Sports alongside Rory McIlroy and TMRW Sports CEO Mike McCarley, Woods is set to tee it up for the inaugural season of TGL starting in early 2025. He’s joined by a host of PGA TOUR stars, including Justin Thomas, Rickie Fowler and plenty more.
The first-of-its-kind experience for golf will see an entire match played over two hours of primetime action. Woods and Co. will hit into a giant golf simulator in front of a live audience, before taking to a tech-infused short-game complex to chip and putt with fans surrounding the green.
That high-energy, next-generation fan experience is integral to TGL and Woods is excited to help bring an innovative new approach to the game of golf.
Woods said: “TGL is the next evolution within professional golf, and I am committed to helping lead it into the future. Embracing technology to create this unique environment gives us the ability to move our sport into primetime on a consistent basis alongside so many of sports’ biggest events.”
Woods has nine Presidents Cup appearances and eight Ryder Cup appearances, and believes TGL’s team golf format sets it up perfectly to bring that same raucous atmosphere to indoor golf in front of the fans.
“As a big sports fan myself, I’m excited about blending golf with technology and team elements common in other sports. We all know what it’s like to be in a football stadium or a basketball arena where you can watch every play, every minute of action unfold right in front of you. It’s something that inherently isn’t possible in traditional golf — and an aspect of TGL that will set it apart and appeal to a new generation of fans.”
