After a championship run in 2025, followed by Billy Horschel’s walk-off eagle in the Season 2 opener against New York Golf Club, a pressing question hangs over the rest of the league – can anyone stop Atlanta Drive GC?

The Bay Golf Club would like a word.

Two of the top teams from Season 1 are ready to go at 5 p.m. ET Tuesday, with The Bay taking on Atlanta at SoFi Center live on ESPN.

TV & STREAMING: How to Watch TGL in Your Country

Atlanta is already up to its winning ways again after a 6-4 victory over New York Golf Club in the first match, while The Bay – the No. 2 overall seed entering the 2025 postseason – is teeing it up at SoFi Center for the first time this year.

The Bay is the only team in TGL that’s ever come out on top in a match with Atlanta, earning a 6-5 win during the regular season a year ago. Atlanta eventually got revenge with a 9-3 upset in the Semifinals, setting the stage for a third meeting Tuesday as two heavy hitters collide once more.

LINEUPS

The Bay Golf Club: Shane Lowry, Ludvig Åberg, Wyndham Clark

Atlanta Drive GC: Billy Horschel, Chris Gotterup, Patrick Cantlay

PLAYING ORDER REVEAL

Here’s the order in which players will tee off for their teams:

TRIPLES

SINGLES

3 THINGS TO KNOW

Terrific Trio: The Bay quickly established itself as one of the top teams in TGL last season. And the lineup of Lowry, Åberg and Clark proved particularly tough to beat. The Bay went 2-0 with this lineup in Season 1 and beat opponents by a combined score of 14-6.

Clark was particularly dominant all year and led TGL with 26 total points won during the regular season – seven more than the next-closest competitors. He was absent for The Bay’s 9-3 playoff loss to Atlanta and will be itching to get back for another crack at the champs.

Separate Strengths: Time and time again last season, we saw The Bay build an early lead and carry it to the finish line for a win. They raced out to a 3-0 advantage through four holes in the victory over Atlanta in the regular season and finished first in the league in both Triples points won and Triples holes won.

Atlanta was fourth in both categories, often stepping on the gas down the stretch to win in comeback fashion during Singles. They finished first in Singles points won, whereas The Bay was fifth. We’ll see if the same tendencies hold true on Tuesday.

Grand Entrance: Billy Horschel’s 37-foot eagle putt to clinch a win for Atlanta made for one memorable highlight on opening night.

It also somewhat overshadowed a rock solid performance from Atlanta alternate Chris Gotterup, who makes his second appearance at SoFi Center Tuesday.

The 2022 Jack Nicklaus Award winner out of Oklahoma didn’t look phased when tasked with hitting the first tee shot of the season and striped one down the middle of the fairway. He also picked up a key Singles point and looked right at home in the center of the action at SoFi Center.

SINGLES MATCHUPS

Shane Lowry vs Billy Horschel: Lowry gets as tough a matchup as there is to start head-to-head play – Horschel's all-time Singles record is now 9-2-4 and he always seems to rise to the occasion. But Lowry is no slouch and will get his crack beginning at No. 10, Sterling, one of the shorter par-5s in the catalogue. They finish at Straight Up, a drivable par-4 that should be evenly-matched due to their similar distance off the tee.

Ludvig Åberg vs. Chris Gotterup: The vets clear the stage for the 26-year-olds in the second leg of Singles. It’s an interesting choice from both teams - these are two of the longest hitters in the game, but driving distance won’t come into play on either hole. They’ll have to shape something right out of the gate at No. 11, Stinger, another new hole where only one of four players has successfully flighted a tee shot under the overhanging obstacle so far this season. Then they’re on to the 138-yard par-3, On the Rocks, playing as the 14th.

Wyndham Clark vs. Patrick Cantlay: Two of the clear-cut top TGL performers take it home from the anchor position in what should be a very high-level matchup. No. 12, Cenote, is a new unconventional par-3 that neither player has seen yet. Stone & Steeple serves as the 15th and final hole – a 592-yard par-5 where anything left is dead and the pressure is on. In other words, a perfect venue for two guys who show nerves of steel every time they tee it up at SoFi Center.

THE COURSE

The Plank is back in the rotation as the opening hole – Atlanta made par at this short par-4 to tie in their first match.

We’ll see the debut of another Team Hole at No. 4, Bay Breaker, a 579-yard par-5 running along the Pacific Ocean with the Golden Gate bridge prominently featured in the distance.

Atlanta’s Team Hole awaits at the ninth – Fore-0-Fore is a 622-yard par-5 that pays homage to the ATL area code. It certainly favored the local squad in the first match when Atlanta combined for a birdie worth two points with the Hammer in play.

No. 11, Stinger, has been getting a lot of buzz with three of four players hitting their tee shots into the overhanging rock. Boston Common Golf alternate Michael Thorbjornsen finally showed us the path with a 3-iron that found the fairway and said he nearly hit a punch shot in order to flight it low enough off the tee.

The 15th, Stone & Steeple, has been a welcome addition as the first Gil Hanse design in the TGL rotation. There’s plenty of room to the right off the tee, but there’s little room for error on the second shot where anything left of the stone wall running along the entire fairway will lead to a penalty.

HOLE SPOTLIGHT

No. 8, Temple, 481 yards

This is the sister hole of the par-5 The Spear, and it’s in the rotation for the first time this season. Like The Spear, this fairway pinches into a tiny strip of land in the middle - 266 yards, in Temple’s case – before expanding out wider and wider the closer it gets to the green.

This is when we’ll get to see the big bombers show off, with Åberg and Gotterup on the tee to start the penultimate Triples hole. Distance is massively important at this lengthy par-4, but there’s still not a ton of room even at the 315-yard range and anything off the fairway is dead. This is the type of hole that would be nearly impossible to build in the real world, with SoFi Center allowing for a few creative liberties.
