Inside the TGL presented by SoFi Season 2 GreenZone renovation.
There’s golf and there’s TGL golf — where the playing field itself evolves and changes as the match progresses. Season 2 brings a new chapter in how the game is played, seen, and experienced. The GreenZone—TGL’s hybrid arena-meets-course—is back, and this time it’s bigger, better, and built for epic moments.
The Green Just Got An Upgrade
The playing surface is expanding—literally. The GreenZone is now 38% larger, moving from roughly 3,800 to 5,300 square feet. It’s not better just because it’s bigger. It’s better because it allows for more hole-to-hole adaptations, more putts, more drama, and more excitement.
“It’s gone from hole 7 at Pebble Beach to hole 16 at TPC Scottsdale. Did I mention it rotates?” — Ube, LAGC Social
With motorized actuators under the green surface, the slope, undulation, and contours can be changed hole-by‐hole.
More Surface, More Action
In addition to the green, TGL’s bunker renovation also brings some exciting changes. One bunker has been completely removed, while the other two are now 50% bigger allowing for more space, depth and surface to play from.
The renovation also increases available hole locations—from 7 in Season 1 to 12 in Season 2—which may force players to play with more creativity and should provide additional variety.
It’s designed for the unexpected: hole-outs, spin-backs, and that perfect chase down the slope. Whether you’re watching from the stands or streaming from home, you’ll see the difference.
The theme here is simple: More. More options, more obstacles, and more questions like, 'How am I going to hit this shot?'
Screen Meets Scene
The virtual side of things also just got a little more real. The HDR engine powering the graphics in the screen now produces a brighter, more immersive environment—think of it as upgrading from HD to cinematic. The gameplay, the crowd lighting, even the ball flight should feel more alive.
This will help create a more immersive experience for fans in SoFi Center, and a clearer, sharper viewing experience for those watching in prime time on TV.
Built For The Fans
TGL has re-engineered its arena layout too—removing two towers and lowering a greenside highpoint to bring spectators closer to the action and give them better views.
Why did TGL do this? This was due to direct feedback received from fans, as well as from data analytics and player feedback from Season 1. When you build for the future and take on board feedback, you can shape the way the game is played.
One Green To Rule Them All
Season 2 is bringing a brand new playing field. The new green is dynamic and versatile, bound to keep everyone (even the players) guessing on what’s next.
Tune in for the opening match of Season 2, December 28th at 3:00pm EST on ABC.
This is golf—TGL style.
