Community-focused course opening on March 28 will feature $2 tee times, local vendors, and on-site activations in South Los Angeles.
Los Angeles, Calif. (March 22, 2026) — Kevin Gigax, CEO of The Maggie Junior Golf & Community Foundation today announced the reopening of the Maggie Hathaway Golf Course as part of the restoration project in Los Angeles, California. The revitalized nine-hole course will officially open to the public on March 28, anchored by a community-wide course opening event led by Los Angeles Golf Club and in partnership with Los Angeles County, The Maggie Hathaway Golf & Community Foundation, American Golf, SAYPI, and the SCGA Junior Golf Foundation. The restoration project remains ongoing as the clubhouse and community center are still in construction with a winter 2026/27 completion date.
Originally established as a community golf course in 1962, Maggie Hathaway Golf Course holds a longstanding role in the history of golf in Los Angeles. Its restoration reflects a continued investment in South Los Angeles, reinforcing opportunities for participation, youth engagement, and long-term community use.

The project represents a collaborative effort across public and private partners, with Los Angeles County, their Department of Parks and Recreation, The Maggie Junior Golf & Community Foundation and American Golf leading the the course’s redevelopment and long-term sustainability.

LAGC roster member and Los Angeles native Collin Morikawa has been the honorary chairman of the effort, supporting the project personally and through his network, aligning closely with its focus on junior golf development and expanding access to the sport for young players across the city.
