Season 2 will include a few enhancements and upgrades inside the arena, along with familiar TGL mainstays like the Hammer and owners cheering on every shot from their boxes.

First up – a rematch of last year’s Finals with defending-champion Atlanta Drive GC taking on New York Golf Club. Can the Drive make a serious repeat bid? Will New York return stronger and determined to take the Cup? Or will we see a team that finished near the bottom of the SoFi Cup Standings emerge as a championship threat?

With a new year on the horizon, let’s take a look at the teams, the format, and what’s new for Season 2.

WHEN DOES TGL SEASON 2 START?

A new season at SoFi Center begins at 3 p.m. ET Sunday, December 28th, with Atlanta and New York going head-to-head live on ABC. That’s followed by a primetime clash with Boston Common Golf taking on Los Angeles Golf Club at 7 p.m. ET Jan. 2.

THE TEAMS

ATLANTA DRIVE GC

The Roster: Patrick Cantlay, Lucas Glover, Billy Horschel, Justin Thomas

Season 1 Recap: Atlanta looked the part all season long, routinely showing up to SoFi Center with Atlanta Falcons jerseys, Dirty Bird chains and wild dance moves. They backed it up with their play, losing just one regular-season match to earn the No. 3 seed in the postseason. After topping The Bay Golf Club in the Semifinals, Atlanta won the first two Finals matches to sweep New York and become the first-ever SoFi Cup champion.

BOSTON COMMON GOLF

The Roster: Keegan Bradley, Hideki Matsuyama, Rory McIlroy, Adam Scott

Season 1 Recap: Boston made an unforgettable SoFi Center debut in an Overtime thriller, coming up just short against Jupiter Links Golf Club. That was the story of the season, with Boston finishing 0-4-1. The Ballfrogs fought hard to the end throughout several close losses and look poised to make a big leap entering TGL Season 2.

JUPITER LINKS GOLF CLUB

The Roster: Max Homa, Tom Kim, Kevin Kisner, Tiger Woods

Season 1 Recap: Jupiter was creating viral moments before the first swing of the club, with Tiger Woods & crew making an unforgettable entrance to the playing area at SoFi Center ahead of their season opener against Los Angeles. An enusing overtime win over Boston in primetime had Jupiter poised to make a postseason run. While Jupiter ultimately fell just outside the playoff bubble, few if any teams had more fun and created more memorable moments.

LOS ANGELES GOLF CLUB

The Roster: Tommy Fleetwood, Collin Morikawa, Justin Rose, Sahith Theegala

Season 1 Recap: Los Angeles was the class of the league throughout the regular season, earning the No. 1 overall seed with a 4-0-1 record. It came to an abrupt end following a 6-4 Semifinals loss to New York, and Los Angeles enters TGL 2026 with plenty of unfinished business.

NEW YORK GOLF CLUB

The Roster: Matt Fitzpatrick, Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele, Cameron Young

Season 1 Recap: New York got off to a rough start, getting outscored 13-2 in back-to-back losses to The Bay and Atlanta. With very little room for error the rest of the way, NYGC got to work, putting lights out while winning two of their three final matches to earn the fourth and final playoff spot. New York then upset top-seeded Los Angeles to secure a Finals bid, where they lost two-straight matches by one point against Atlanta. NYGC should enter Season 2 with plenty of confidence, as resilience is clearly one of its biggest strengths.

THE BAY GOLF CLUB

The Roster: Ludvig Åberg, Wyndham Clark, Min Woo Lee, Shane Lowry

Season 1 Recap: While not considered a Season 1 favorite by most, The Bay proved they belong at the top with a 4-1 regular-season record. Clark was one of the league’s most prolific scorers all season, but all four players combined to create one of the most versatile squads in the league. One thing’s for sure – The Bay won’t be sneaking up on anyone this season after coming up short in a Semifinals tilt with Atlanta.

While Season 2 will feature the original six teams, TGL is set to welcome another squad with the addition of Motor City Golf Club representing Detroit in 2027.

KEY DATES

Season 2 of TGL begins with a Dec. 28 Finals Series rematch as Atlanta and New York run it back for the opener on ABC.

A Jan. 6 Semifinals rematch between Atlanta and The Bay kicks off a stretch of six consecutive weeks with TGL matches on Monday or Tuesday night.

The action returns with a Feb. 23 TGL Doubleheader, as Atlanta takes on Boston in the first match and Los Angeles in the nightcap.

Another Sunday night tilt is set for March 1 in a rematch of one of the most memorable matches from 2025, when league co-founders Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy went heads up as Jupiter scored an overtime win over Boston.

The top four teams in the league will compete in a Semifinals doubleheader March 17, followed by the Finals Series March 23-24.

THE FORMAT

Every TGL match is a 15-hole competition featuring nine holes of Triples and six holes of Singles. Triples is alternate shot format with all three players taking turns, while Singles is standard one-on-one. Match play scoring is in effect with each hole worth one point to start, though stakes can increase via the Hammer.

Teams start every match with three Hammers to use at any point. Throwing the Hammer increases the stakes of the hole by one point if accepted, but opponents can choose to decline and forfeit the hole to lose just one point.

The top four teams in the regular season make the playoffs, with number of holes won throughout the year serving as the tiebreaker. Two Semifinals matches are then followed by a best-of-three Finals Series at SoFi Center.

SEASON 1 RECAP: KEY MOMENTS AND STATS

With New York looking to force a third and decisive match against Atlanta in the Finals Series, Billy Horschel sunk what would prove to be the winning 17-foot birdie putt as Atlanta captured the SoFi Cup last March.

That moment capped a season filled with memorable performances, including:

  • A league-high 13 Singles points for Horschel across the regular season and playoffs
  • 360-yard drives from Wyndham Clark, Ludvig Åberg and Cameron Young
  • Wyndham Clark logging 26 points in the regular season across Triples and Singles, seven more than the next leading scorer
  • Top ball speed of 193.0 MPH from Min Woo Lee
  • Jupiter’s 4-3 Overtime win over Boston on Jan. 27
  • Los Angeles erasing a 4-0 deficit through 11 holes for a 5-4 Overtime win over New York on Feb. 24
  • New York returning the favor in a 6-4 Semifinals upset win over top-seeded Los Angeles

WHAT’S NEW IN SEASON 2?

Several changes and improvements have been made entering TGL Season 2, including a new-look GreenZone. TGL has expanded the putting surface and the bunkers based on feedback and data from Season 1, while also adding more pin locations and creating more undulation on the putting surface. In addition, several areas of the GreenZone have been lowered to create better sightlines for fans at SoFi Center.

Season 2 also sees the debut of Team Holes, each of them uniquely designed and themed for teams to play in their matches.
