Let's take a look back at the foundation we've built at LAGC as we prepare for the launch of Season 2 of TGL presented by SoFi...
When LAGC teed it up in January, we knew TGL would be something the world of golf had never seen before. A league built for primetime, fueled by tech, and grounded in community — we set out to show what the future of golf could look like.
And when you think of LA sports, you think of greatness. LA is as iconic as a city comes, so when building out our roster and imagining our place in the league, we knew we had to aim high.
Here’s how LAGC performed in the league and on the PGA TOUR in 2025...
Season 1 Biggest Moments
Big Time Debut vs. Jupiter Links
The LAGC squad announced itself from the jump, cruising past Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links 12-1 in LAGC’s debut match. Collin Morikawa, Justin Rose, and Sahith Theegala set the tone, and co-owner Serena Williams joined the broadcast booth midway through the match.
Historic Comeback vs. New York Golf Club
Never count out LAGC. That was one of the Season 1 takeaways.
Down 4-0 on the 12th tee, the comeback kings struck, as Theegala sunk a 28-foot birdie putt to get on the board. Tony Finau, joining LAGC on a one-match contract, then threw the Hammer and birdied the 13th to climb within one point.
After leveling the match and forcing Overtime, LAGC won the closest to the pin competition to complete the comeback.
Back-to-Back Drama vs. The Bay
LAGC proved the comeback against NYGC wasn’t a fluke. Down 3-0 through eight holes, they stormed back 5-3 to lock up the No. 1 seed. Theegala chipped in to win hole No.12, before Tommy Fleetwood chipped in to save hole No.13 on the way to five unanswered points in a dramatic victory.
Here’s how the rest of the action shaped out over Season 1...
Match by Match: The Journey
REGULAR SEASON
Week 1 vs. Jupiter Links GC — Win (12–1)
Los Angeles Golf Club opened its TGL season with a commanding 12-1 win over Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links. Rose, Morikawa, and Theegala fueled the blowout while Serena cheered from the sidelines.
Week 2 vs. Boston Common Golf — Win (6–2)
In Fleetwood’s debut, Los Angeles Golf Club secured a comfortable 6-2 win over Boston Common Golf, moving to first place in the SoFi Cup Standings. With strong performances from Morikawa and Rose, LA surged ahead early, frustrating Boston’s stars en route to victory.
Week 3 vs. Atlanta Drive GC — Loss (5–6 OT)
The third match was a different story. In a tense battle that stretched into Overtime, Atlanta sneaked away with the win. It was LAGC’s only regular-season loss, and while painful in the moment, it sharpened the team’s edge going into the back half of the regular season.
Week 4 vs. New York GC — Win (5–4 OT)
What followed was one of the most memorable comebacks of the year. Down 0–4, LAGC refused to quit, erasing a 4-0 deficit to beat New York Golf Club 5-4 in overtime. From the home of Hollywood, it was high-level drama as LAGC's comeback helped to secure a playoff spot.
Week 5 vs. The Bay GC — Win (5–3)
LAGC pulled off another dramatic comeback, storming back from 3-0 down to defeat The Bay Golf Club 5-3 and clinch the No. 1 playoff seed. Theegala’s birdie chip-in to win No.12 and Fleetwood’s chip-in on No.13 to tie the hole got SoFi Center on its feet.
It was LAGC's second straight comeback, earning them a 4-0-1 record and the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.
PLAYOFFS
Semifinal vs. New York GC — Loss (4–6)
The postseason ended too soon. In a Semifinal clash with New York, LAGC battled but ultimately fell 4–6. It was heartbreak in the moment, but the bigger picture was clear: This first season had built a foundation, one that we're excited to carry into Season 2.
LAGC on the PGA TOUR
While TGL offered fans a new way to connect, LAGC’s players also made their mark on the PGA TOUR.
Sahith Theegala
With top-30 finishes in the Genesis Invitational, The Masters, and the Zurich Classic, you can see Theegala's got what it takes to compete at the highest level.
We’re excited to see him put the pieces together in 2026!
Collin Morikawa
Morikawa started the year hot, highlighted by runner-up finishes at the Sentry and the Arnold Palmer Invitational. He finished his first six events in the top 20 and had strong finishes at the Memorial Tournament and the Rocket Classic to support the back end of his season.
Morikawa finished 18th in on-course earnings this season.
Justin Rose
Rose quieted any doubters, if there still were any. His five top-10 finishes, highlighted by his runner-up playoff performance at the Masters and his playoff victory over J.J. Spaun at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, proved he can muster up brilliant play on any given weekend.
Rose finished 10th on the money list this season. And in his seventh Ryder Cup appearance for Team Europe, Rose earned 2 points in his 2025 showing. Team Europe came out on top at Bethpage Black making it Justin's fifth win with the team.
Tommy Fleetwood
Fleetwood played stellar golf all year long, and of course finished the season with a bang winning his first-ever PGA TOUR event at the TOUR Championship. With eight top-10 finishes, we got used to seeing Tommy’s name on the leaderboard come Sunday afternoon. His performances in the FedExCup Playoffs were remarkable:
- FedEx St. Jude Championship: T3
- BMW Championship: T4
- TOUR Championship: 1st, crowning him the season’s FedExCup champion.
He finished second only to Scottie Scheffler in on-course earnings this season, totaling $18,496,238.
Fleetwood went 4-1-0 in the 2025 Ryder Cup for Team Europe. He went on to win the Nicklaus-Jacklin Award which is given to the competitor who emboidies the true spirit of the event.
LAGC’s performance in our inaugural season of TGL was no stroke of luck. It was an indication of what we’d see down the stretch of the PGA TOUR season.
Our guys answered the call and collectively put up an incredible season.
The First Chapter of Many
Season 1 was just the start. With our players, partners, and fans, we built a debut year remembered as much for its energy as for the results.
Now we look ahead. How do we build on this momentum? How do we make the game even more exciting, more welcoming, and more true to Los Angeles? Those are the questions driving us forward.
And the best is yet to come — on to Season 2!
