With TGL presented by SoFi set to tee off for Season 2, we asked the fans and players for their thoughts and predictions...
We already know the players involved are among the best in the world, something they proved every week with soaring drives into the Screen and clutch birdie putts with the Hammer in play.
So, what do the participants think about the other stuff? Who consistently brought it strong with the mic’d up moments each week? Which player was the most underrated in TGL? Is there an obvious standout candidate for best player in Season 2?
And do the fans see things differently?

To find out, we conducted two TGL surveys ahead of Season 2 – one for the players and one for the fans. The goal was to provide a look at how TGL players view themselves, how the fans feel, what they agree on, and which questions have them divided in opinion.
BEST MIC’D UP?
Players will once again be mic’d up for the duration of every match in 2026, allowing everyone a glimpse behind the scenes in terms of shot selection, player strategy, and teammate interactions.
On this one, players and fans clearly agree - Atlanta Drive GC’s Justin Thomas is the king of the mic entering Season 2.
Now, it’s easier to talk a big game when you consistently back it up like Atlanta did on the way to a SoFi Cup. But Thomas also scores big points because he’s always quick with a self-deprecating jab when he doesn’t execute as intended.
Same goes for Tiger Woods, who finished second in the player poll and fourth in fan voting for the category.
MOST UNDERRATED PLAYER IN SEASON 1?
This is always a tough one to quantify, but fans and players are aligned again on the top three most underrated TGL players from Season 1.
Fans voted Atlanta’s Billy Horschel in the top spot – the 38-year-old Florida native stole the show on several occasions with his fiery demeanor and fully-committed “Dirty Bird” dance moves. But his stellar play may have flown under the radar, with Horschel serving as the top Singles point scorer in both the regular season and playoffs.
TGL players chose Los Angeles’ Tommy Fleetwood as most underrated, with Cantlay tied for second in the player poll. While not one of the longest hitters in the league, Fleetwood helped LAGC secure the No. 1 overall seed in the regular season with precision and consistency.
Cameron Young was another consensus vote, finishing second in both surveys. He’s a man of few words but the driver speaks loudly, with Young hitting one of the longest drives of last season at 360 yards.
BEST ARRIVALS STYLE?
From formal wear to gym clothes and everything in-between, TGL players opted for a variety of looks when rolling up to SoFi Center on match night.
The weekly ‘fit checks’ included a lot of highlights and regional nods. According to fans, no one showed up in style quite like Rickie Fowler.
Long known for his unique look and Sunday orange, Fowler remains the fan favorite in the style category by a significant margin.
Players had Fowler second in this category behind Jupiter’s Tom Kim, who garnered plenty of attention on TikTok and Instagram for his pre-match fits, perhaps best described as a mix of business-casual-athletic.
Kim finished 10th in the fan vote, garnering more attention from his peers. Fans voted Horschel second behind Fowler, perhaps noting the “Dirty Birds” chain that became commonplace around his neck before and after matches.
Horschel also showed up in a No. 9 Michael Penix Atlanta Falcons jersey ahead of Atlanta’s TGL debut. Teammate Justin Thomas, who finished third in the fan vote, joined in on the jersey trend with a throwback Dominique Wilkins Atlanta Hawks jersey ahead of the Presidents' Day Triple Header.
BEST HAMMER STRATEGY?
There’s no question which team best employed the Hammer throughout Season 1. Atlanta finished with a +13 Hammer points differential while the next-closest team in Los Angeles was +6.
Apparently, the credit for such brilliant strategy is up for debate. Players overwhelming voted Patrick Cantlay here, with “Patty Ice” receiving 60% of the player vote.
Fans credited Thomas by a large margin and had him in the top spot for Hammer strategy.
Perhaps both deserve the honor for different reasons. Thomas was the Hammer gatekeeper for Atlanta, keeping the flag in his back pocket and often throwing it with flair and a few choice words.
As the player survey indicates, Cantlay was the true strategist and often talked teammates out of bad decisions or into good ones based on the situation. Atlanta’s total grasp of strategy and brilliant use of the Hammer played no small part in its run to the SoFi Cup in 2025.
New York Golf Club’s Xander Schauffele employed a more aggressive strategy, to say the least, but earned credit for his high risk tolerance as the No. 2 vote-getter in the player survey.

WHO WILL STEAL THE SPOTLIGHT IN SEASON 2?
Looking ahead to 2026, we asked players and fans about those they expect to shine in Season 2. Players, who weren’t allowed to vote for themselves, ultimately tabbed Shane Lowry.
The 38-year-old Irishman will certainly be brimming with confidence after he drained the decisive putt for Team Europe in its Ryder Cup victory over the U.S. Team at Bethpage Black. The Bay Golf Club as a whole is also looking to take it a step further after going 4-1 in the regular season last season.
Fans opted for Fleetwood to take the honors in a decisive vote, with “Fairway Jesus” receiving nearly double the amount of votes as the second-place finisher in Min Woo Lee. Fleetwood was tied for second in the player vote alongside Thomas and The Bay’s Ludvig Åberg.
BEST TEAM LOGO?
While they missed the postseason in 2025, fans and players agreed – Jupiter Links Golf Club looks good.
JLGC took the top spot in both surveys for best logo, with a red-washed palm tree in place of a flagstick and Jupiter spelled out in classic cursive. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that Tiger Woods and son Charlie were seen rocking the logo around town throughout the season.
Fans went with Boston Common Golf in the No. 2 spot, a nice nod to the Ballfrogs’ unique green look. Players voted Los Angeles Golf Club’s ultra-sleek black and white look as the second-best behind Jupiter.

SEASON 2 WINNER?
While Atlanta Drive GC claimed the first-ever SoFi Cup with a Finals Series win over New York Golf Club, neither team has been pegged as the favorite by fans or players entering Season 2.
Ultimately, fans and players agreed on a team that missed the playoffs in 2025 – Boston Common Golf.
Those who watched week-in and week-out know the Ballfrogs played better than their record indicated and aren’t far away from serious contention. While Season 1 belonged to Atlanta, it seems most believe Boston is poised to bounce back and make a championship run in Season 2.
Fans and players were also aligned on their No. 2 pick, with Los Angeles receiving the second-most votes in each survey. LAGC earned the No. 1 seed entering the postseason before an upset loss to New York, and we’ll see if Fleetwood, Collin Morikawa, Justin Rose and Sahith Theegala can take it a step further in 2026.
